The Eureka Enviro Steamer, Model #313A, is a five pound steam mop that consistently receives rave reviews. Like other steam mops, this model is used for cleaning marble, ceramic, stone, linoleum, parquet, and sealed hardwood floors. If you are not familiar with steam mops, they use hot steam instead of commercial cleaners to remove dirt and grime from flooring sufaces. These devices also have the capability to sanitize, killing dust mites and some types of bacteria, such as salmonella and E-coli

The Eureka Envirosteamer comes packaged with two thick, durable, and reusable floor cloths. It also comes with a preheating/cool down tray, an ideal accessory for protecting flooring surfaces. A green power light lets you know when the machine is plugged in, and an amber-colored light alerts you when the water tank is empty. The mop also has an amply-sized 25 foot cord. With the 12.5 inch cleaning path and easy-reach design, the mop has no problem cleaning both large flooring expanses, as well as nooks and crannies.

The steamer comes packaged with two thick, reusable floorcloths. Additional floorcloths can be purchased separately. The mop should never be used unless a floorcloth is attached. To attach, set the base of steamer on the floorcloth, make sure the edges are secured over the base, and then tuck both ends under the cloth clips.

The Eureka steam mop can hold a total of twelve ounces of water, and will operate approximately fifteen minutes on one tank of water. Tap water can be used, although distilled water should be used if the tap water is hard. To fill the water tank, unscrew the safety cap and insert the included funnel. Using the measuring cup packaged with the steam mop, pour two measures of water into the tank. Replace the safety cap after filling the tank.

To heat the water, first plug in the steam mop. Place the machine on the preheating/cool down tray and press the power switch. The mop will take approximately three to four minutes to heat. It is ready to use as soon as it starts emitting steam.

Pass the mop head and cleaning pad slowly over the area that needs cleaned. Do not leave it in the same spot for more than fifteen seconds.

You may want to sanitize certain areas, such as the flooring surfaces near bathroom stools and in food preparation areas. To do this, position the mop head over the area to be disinfected. Leave in place for at least eight seconds, but for no more than fifteen seconds. The floor under the steamer will reach a temperature of 170 degrees Fahrenheit. This allows the area to be disinfected without the use of harsh chemicals.

When the water tank is empty, the mop will stop producing steam. The amber-colored light on the unit will also light, to alert you to the fact that the water tank is empty. Before refilling, turn off the machine, unplug it, and place on the preheating/cool down tray. You should also place the mop on this tray when you are finished cleaning. Also, when finished and after the machine has been given time to cool, the floorcloth should be removed, and the water tank should be emptied prior to putting the machine away.

As with other steam mop models, you should test the Eureka EnviroSteamer on a small flooring patch to verify that it will not affect the floor’s finish. The hot steam emitted by the machine may remove the sheen on surfaces treated with wax, as well as the coating on no-wax floors. Also, the machine should not be used on unsealed wood floors.
