The McCulloch MC-1275 Heavy Duty Steam Cleaner is exactly what you would expect from a company that has made its mark on the power tools industry. In case you are new to the McCulloch brand, here is a quick background…

This company, which is a brand within the Husqvarna Group, has been a leading manufacturer of outdoor power tools for more than six decades, specializing in chainsaws, trimmers, brush cutters, generators, pressure washers, and more.

The thirteen pound heavy duty handheld steam cleaner from McCulloch is a workhorse, providing 1500 watts of steam power. It is able to remove stains, odors, grease, and other grime from a multitude of surfaces. Here’s a brief look at what it can handle:

  • It can deep clean mats and upholstery in vehicles, removing stains and odors from cars, trucks, motorcycles, and boats.
  • Although it is great for cleaning vehicle interiors, remember it’s a power tool, which means it can even be used to clean chrome, wheels, and engines, making your vehicle literally shine from the inside out.
  • In the garage, it can tackle grills and patio furniture.
  • Use it in the bathroom to zap mildew and soap scum buildup on tub and shower surfaces, as well as to disinfect toilets and sinks and to clean floors.
  • In the kitchen, it can be used on most appliances – the dishwasher, oven, microwave, and refrigerator will all shine, because the steam generated from this machine can get into the nooks and crannies that typically are too difficult to reach.
  • Use the steam cleaner to clean mirrors, windows, and shower doors – without the use of harsh chemicals.
  • Really, this machine can clean just about anything else you can think of – baseboards and cupboards, pet bowls, cat boxes, the list goes on…

The McCulloch MC-1275 Heavy Duty Steam Cleaner is able to clean all these surfaces because it comes with several useful (and rugged) attachments, including:

  • a steam jet nozzle
  • two extension wands
  • a triangle brush
  • an upholstery floor brush with terry cloth cover
  • a utility brush
  • a squeegee
  • a funnel and measuring cup

The machine has a utility brush storage compartment, which allows these attachments to be stored onboard. Other features include a lengthy 12 foot power cord, sturdy caster wheels, and a 50-oz water tank. Due to the amply sized water tank, the machine is able function for one full hour before needing a refill.

Our McCulloch Steam Cleaner Review

It was difficult to find many negatives about this heavy duty steam cleaner, but we were able to track down a few:

First, it’s loud, especially when used in confined spaces, such as a bathroom. Second, it has no handle, which means it can be difficult to carry from place to place. Third, it needs approximately ten minutes to warm up, which is a bit longer than some comparable models. Finally, it doesn’t work on everything. If you expect it to remove tough hard water stains, black mildew from tile grout, or want to use it for industrial strength applications, you may be disappointed. However, for most typical household uses, it does the job – and does it well!

As far as positives go, the machine is sturdy and does a good job. The heavy duty plastic attachments are well built, and even include brass fittings. The water tank is generously sized and requires very few refills (if any). The handle also includes a handy trigger lock feature. The versatile McCulloch MC-1275 Heavy Duty Steam Cleaner is a good value for the money, with a retail price tag of approximately $150.

i just used my new mc 1275 after reading and researching for over a year. This thing is fabulous. It doesn’t ‘clean’ rugs but it kills dog and ferret scent in them- it freshens them they smell clean. I am more pleased with this than i ever imagined i would be. it is well built, the steam is very hot, pressure is excellent, floors -even rugs- were not left wet but slightly damp. my extremely thick pile rug was dry in less than an hour (i have the heat on tho) and wood and linoleum less than 10 minutes. is great on windows and mirrors. is not so hot on soap buildup in shower upper level cut right through it though in the tub. i even freshened my king comforter right on the bed. if you follow directions and take your time this thing is fantastic. i haven’t done any brake dust or grill or oven cleaning but i am tired now and i will do more tomorrow.
woo hoo this thing is fun and makes the house smell so goood.

I hven’t seen anything about a dirty water tank? Does it have suction or do you just wipe up the mess?

  4. Winnie says:

There is no suction. Floors are only damp, so I just let those air dry — took about 10 minutes this evening. For other things, I just have a microfiber cloth or other clean-up cloth and wipe after steaming.
