SteamFast SF-275 SteamMax Steam Cleaner
Overall Rating:

Retail Price: $149.99
Amazon Price: $99.99
The SteamFast SF-275, also called the SteamMax, is a powerful household steam cleaner. At fifteen pounds, this machine is much larger than its smaller handheld counterparts. However, it sits on four castered wheels, ensuring that it can be easily moved from one project to another.

It can tackle a number of cleaning projects, using powerful and all-natural steam in place of expensive and potentially harmful commercial cleaners to cut through dirt and grime. It also eliminate odors, and even kill germs, bacteria, mold, mildew, and dust mites. Steam is safe to use on just about every surface in the home – kitchen and bathroom appliances, windows and mirrors, vents, countertops, flooring surfaces, vehicles, grills, patio furniture, and more.

Features of the SteamFast SF-275

In addition to 1500 watts of steam cleaning power, the SteamMax has the following features:

  • 48 ounce water tank – Under normal use, the machine can run almost one full hour on one tank of water.
  • Steam Ready Light – This light indicates when the machine is fully heated and ready for use.
  • Lighted power switch – This switch provides a visual indication of when the unit is powered on or off.
  • Comfortable, stay cool handle – This handle includes a a steam button, which when depressed, releases a spray of hot steam. It also has a steam lock switch, which when locked, provides a continuous stream of hot steam, instead of a short burst.
  • Carrying handle – This handle has a two-fold purpose. It can be used to easily carry the machine from place to place, including up stairs. It also provides a convenient and safe place to rest the main steam nozzle in between uses.
  • 12 foot power cord
  • Utility brush storage compartment – This compartment allows users to store smaller accessories on board the machine.

The Steamfast SF-275 SteamMax machine also has several useful tools, which connect to its jet nozzle:

  • Medium sized triangular-shaped brush, useful for tackling hard to reach corners
  • Assorted utility brushes
  • Short brass brush – This accessory is good for removing grease and grime from BBQ grills.
  • Scrub pad – The scrub pad attachment allows for steaming and scrubbing at the same time. It works well for cleaning sinks and countertops.
  • Floor brush and cloth cover – The SteamMax can be used used to clean and sanitize hard flooring surfaces, although it should not be used on unsealed hardwood floors.
  • Squeegee – Clean windows, mirrors and other glass surfaces without chemicals.
  • Extension Wands

Our SteamMax Review

With a suggested retail price of approximately $150, this steam cleaner is a good deal for the money, providing adequate heat and pressure for most uses. With 1500 watts of power and a generous selection of sturdy tools, it can tackle numerous cleaning projects, without the need for expensive cleaners. However, that’s not to say that you won’t need to use a little elbow grease!

Compared to similar models, we could not find too much to complain about here. The main problem, we found, was there is inadequate storage for all the tools that come with the machine. We suggest using an old tote or backpack for storing the ones that do not fit in the utility brush storage compartment.

SteamMax SF-275If you are looking for something a little smaller, make sure you read our article about the handheld SteamFast Steam Cleaner. At five pounds, it’s quite a bit smaller than this model, but still does a good job tackling tough cleaning jobs.

As always, if you own this particular model, or a similar one, we would love to hear your review. Just leave a quick comment below to let us know what you think!

  1. John ONeal says:

The steamer gets hot which is great. It seems to build up better pressure if it’s filled up to capacity. My only complaint is the scrub pad, the best attachment for cleaning counters and tile, falls apart after 15 minutes of use. The heat from the steamer melts the glue holding the pad together. At $3.29 + shipping that’s a short time to work.
