The Oreck Steam-It may be a little more pricier than other popular steam mops on the market, but it has a few extra features that make the extra cost well worth it. Most notably, it has a pressurized vapor chamber, so you can even use it upside down without encountering leaks. After all, those ceiling fixtures and crown moldings need cleaned once in a while too!
The Oreck Steam-it uses the power of steam, instead of harsh chemicals, to get your floors (and other areas of your home) squeaky clean. It can be used on most flooring surfaces, including marble, ceramic tile, stone, vinyl, linoleum, sealed hardwood floors, and even carpets and rugs.
It has a generous 16 foot cord, and takes only thirty seconds to heat the water in its one liter tank. The steam literally melts away dirt and grime, without the use of harsh cleansers. Once melted, the residue is picked up with the attached pad or bonnet, or with the wipe of an absorbent cloth. The steam is also hot enough to eliminate harmful bacteria, including e-coli, staph and salmonella.
The Oreck Steam Mop comes with two reusable microfiber pads and two bonnets. The pads and bonnets are machine washable. It also comes with cleaning clips, which allow you to connect your own terry cloth or household towels to the mop head – a nice money-saving feature that we really like!
It also has six different attachments, which give you the capability to clean more than just your floors. Using the included tools, you can steam clean your windows, kitchen and bathroom counters and sinks, appliances, upholstery and drapes, light fixtures, crown moldings and baseboards, and even your mattresses and pillows.
The Oreck Steam-It retails for right around $170.00 and includes a one year warranty. If you buy it, make sure you carefully review the warranty details. The warranty does not cover if the machine is ruined by mineral deposits. This means you will want to use filtered or distilled water, instead of tap water, especially if the water in your area is considered hard.

I found that the steamer has it flaws or awkwardness.
- The steamer does not slip on the floor very well as it does on TV. The cleaner pads sticks to the floor so you have to push it hard to move it about on the lonoliam floor that I use it on. I think this product would be better for newer hardwood floors than on lanolium floors.
- The body of the steamer is heavy while the steamer head is very light – this weight ratio makes it hard to manuver (with the sticking mop pads). The handle is not ergonomic and makes it harder to manuver the steamer head about.
- The steamer heat regulating knob is on the handle at a place for right-handers to change its setting without notice from hot to low and visa versa.
- It is heavy. Awkward to manuver.
I purchased my Oreck Steam Wand about 15 months ago and use it every week on laminated & linoleum floors. I did notice streaking, eventually left off the bottom part with the little nubbies, just attached the cleaning cloths over the bottom. No more streaking! Because of the weight, have built up some muscles pushing & pulling, but it is definately heavy duty, Holds lots of water, never runs out on my day of regular cleaning. ALWAYS use distilled water & have never had it plug up. If it leaves too much water, the dial on the handle can decrease or increase the amount needed. I have used it to freshen up carpet & upholstery. Have lots of dog & grandkid traffic & spills, pretty easy to use, even the grandkids like “mopping”! I use the microfiber cloths from Costco, they pick up & hold all the tiny sand particles & lint & don’t streak. Would really like a much longer cord. I have used it to steam & clean the kids mattresses, was worried about bed bugs, but don’t think anything can live through the steam! I was thinking about getting something lighter, but after reading the reviews of the others may not. I also like being able to clip on my own cleaning cloths, they work better than the ones that came with it.
Very disappointed. Awkward to maneuver (tiles floors in entire home) and does not do the job as well as it promises. Lots of streaking, even after numerous adjustments to the dial. Does not work on grout residue on tiles My old tooth brush works good enough on small areas, i.e. bathroom/kitchen hardware. I’ll stick to my Brissell Hard Floor cleaner, it has always left my floors looking brand new, only drawback is the size…but maneuvers easily.
I would agree with all of the above. Also, 15 months after purchase the water tank started to leak hot steaming water down the side of the wand, making it useless. I called and they told me it could not be repaired and did not offer to replace it – eventhough it was obviously defective. (Only 5 months warranty). At first I loved it. Turned out to be a piece of junk.
